Complacency can make a person careless, and Sharon McCone, who makes crime her business, should know that better than most. One minute she's riding high with her detective agency expanding, and her only "problem" is a marriage proposal that's kicking up her longtime fears of commitment. The next minute, in the time it takes for a single bad-news phone call, she stands to lose everything.

From AudioFile:
Sharon McCone's San Francisco private investigation firm is threatened by the arrest of an employee and a baffling Better Business Bureau complaint. Susan Ericksen gives the various characters in Muller's long-running series solid audio portraits, but Muller's writing does most of the work. Listeners are treated to a nice portrait of San Francisco's Mission District, and the Hispanic characters have considerable spark. As fans know, Sharon is a relentless investigator, and Ericksen's pace retains this intensity. The narrative never lets up, even when Sharon allows herself to examine personal loyalties and commitments. An excellent continuation in a series that listeners can drop into at any point.
