K-Gr. 3. The loveable, impish twin monkeys introduced in Chimp and Zee (2001) are back for more monkeyshines. Tired of being cooped up inside, the twins brave a windy day to go outside and help Papakey bring in the laundry. Mumkey admonishes them to hold tight and not "squibble and squabble," but, of course, the twins forget her instructions the minute they go out the door, and they are soon swept up by the wind. Their desperate parents follow on the ground until resourceful Mumkey snags a twin's tail with her umbrella and pulls her babes to safety. Back in their warm, dry coconut-tree home, the twins play nicely because "Whatever the weather, we'll always be together." The pencil, ink, and watercolor artwork is bright and lively, a little reminiscent of Bemelman and de Brunhoff, and the design is creative, making use of spot illustrations, rounded picture borders, and text in colored boxes.
