In March 2009, during a routine medical exam, Charles Harris learned that he had incurable cancer. Although a private man, he began a blog to keep family and friends current on his progress, and found a wider audience. From the blog was born Incurable, an account of a mans struggle to live vibrantly and with courage in the face of a fatal illness. An entrepreneur and investor by profession, Charles Harris writes about living and dying, friendship and fellowship, sports and wine, race horses and recessions. His style is optimistic, direct, humorous, and companionable. Readers will find his voice brave, inspirational, and an eloquent reminder that an understanding of cancer remains an urgent goal in biomedicine. Proceeds from this book will be used by the Harris family in support of cancer research.

About the Author:
Charles Harris (1943-2010) was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, and grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from the Hill School, Princeton University (English, 1964), and Columbia University (Finance, 1967). From 1966 to 1983, he worked on Wall Street. In 1983, he became an entrepreneur, later founding Harris & Harris Group, a venture capital firm that invests in nanotechnology, from which he retired in 2008 as chairman and chief executive officer. His charitable interests included support for research universities. He bred and raced thoroughbred horses for thirty-six years. He lived in New York City, where he and his wife, Susan, raised their two children, Elizabeth and David.
Review:
...Harris writes about travel, food, family, races, and the progress of his thoroughbreds....one can't help but notice the parallel between his passion for racing and his ability to embrace life's unknowns and play its odds with optimism....All in all, Harris' memoir is the perfect read for those who would like a measured but honest view of what it is like to live with incurable cancer. --Foreword Reviews
