First Edition
Hardcover first edition - First printing. Published in 1941, in a world at war, this follows a young woman from her childhood into adulthood. Stein described this as a novel about "publicity saints" - that is, people who are famous simply for being famous (she was ahead of her time - this is a phenomenon far more common now - with the rise of social media "influencers" than in Stein's day) 154 pp. Good overall in beige boards with dark brown lettering and brown panels on the spine (short tear to side of spine at the top), no dust jacket.
